Carlos Muniz called up, Claudio Vargas D.F.A.

During last night’s post-game show, SNY’s Matt Yallof announced that the Mets called up Carlos Muniz from AAA, and designated for assignment, Claudio Vargas, who pitched in last night’s game. SNY’s Ron Darling hinted that since Vargas pitched last night, and the bullpen had to pitch too many innings, AGAIN, because of a poor Oliver Perez performance, that the Mets needed a fresh arm for tonight, and Friday’s day/night doubleheader vs. the Yankees.
