El Duque Update…

Much like the Loch Ness Monster, we hear reports that he exists, and has been sighted.

Apparently, right-hander Orlando Hernandez, recovering from right foot surgery, allowed two runs, over 5 and 2/3 innings, for Port St. Lucie, on Friday night.

He threw 79 pitches, striking out five and walking one.

Omar Minaya said he didn't expect El Duque back before late July or August.

Call me a skeptic, but, I’ll believe El Duque, or Moises Alou, is available to play, only when they’re in uniform, on the field, for the Mets.

El Duque will bring his 6-shooter to Shea in a week or 2, shut it down, and then be ready for October.
