Oliver Perez pitched seven beautiful innings, yesterday, allowing no runs, on four hits, walking two, and striking out seven, lowering his ERA to 4.62
The Mets were winning 1-0 after 3 innings, and 2-0 after 8 ½ innings, but, the Phillies tied the score in the ninth, eventually leading to the Mets’ win 4-2, in 12 innings.
Perez received a no-decision for yesterday’s effort. If he’s frustrated that the Mets couldn’t hold his lead, I don’t suggest that he talks to Johan Santana. At least the Mets eventually won Oliver’s start. Johan pitches well, and the Mets find ways to lose his starts.
