Phillies Lose, Marlins, Mets & Braves Gain One Game…

The Mets victory over Philly, combined with wins by Florida & Atlanta, tightens the NL East standings.

Philly (48-41) first place

Florida (45-43) second place, 2 ½ games behind Philly

Mets (44-44) third place, 3 ½ games behind Philly, 1 game behind Florida. Finally, back to .500

Atlanta (42-47) fourth place, 6 games behind Philly, 2 ½ games behind the Mets.

Do you think yesterday’s Mets’ game lasted a while ? The Braves won in 17 innings. Any longer, and it could have been a Wimbledon men’s singles final. Why can’t the Braves play 17 inning games the day before they’re scheduled to play the Mets ?
