Ramon Castro had started 3 of the last 4 Mets' games, as manager Jerry Manuel wanted Castro to help jump-start the offense, combined with the Mets facing lefty pitchers, of whom Castro, overall, hits better than Schneider.
Brian Schneider, in the 8th inning of last night's 9-4 win, was asked to pinch-hit, with the game tied at 4-4.
Schneider doubled to right-center, driving in two runs, and breaking the game open, creating a 6-4 lead, which the Mets built to a 9-4 win.
Great job by Schneider being a class act, not complaining about his recent lack of playing time, and making the most of his opportunity.
