Tonight's Bullpen Possibilities...

Marty Noble, of www.mlb.com, writes about the Mets’ bullpen possibilities, on Sunday night.

Johan Santana is available to pitch in relief, today.

Santana pitched merely five innings, in his start against the Giants, on Wednesday night.

Pitching coach Dan Warthen has said he doesn't want Mike Pelfrey, tonight’s starter, to throw more than 100 pitches.

Warthen told Santana of the possibility of pitching in relief today, and Santana embraced it.

"I'll do whatever they want," Santana said as he left Shea on Saturday.

"See if he wants to be the closer tomorrow," Billy Wagner said on Saturday. "I'll start my break a day early."

(HA !!! - Nice, Billy !)

Santana is to start the Mets' game in Cincinnati on Thursday.
