Which Mets Should Be At The All-Star Game ?

First of all, it depends upon your criteria. The fans vote for the eight position player starters in each league.

What's your criteria ? It could vary by fan.

Is it who's exciting and who you would like to watch, in the game ?

Is it who has had the best 80-90 game start this season ?

Is it who has had the best career at each position ?

Are you a homer who just votes for every Met player, regardless of performance ?

Do you vote for a veteran player, near the end of his career, because you want to see one more All-Star appearance ?

Regardless of your criteria, which Mets deserve to go to this year's game ?

None of the Mets are the leading vote recipients at their positions. David Wright probably has the best chance of being added as a reserve, at 3B, especially if Chipper Jones is injured, and unable to play.

Does Reyes or Beltran have a chance to be added as a reserve ?

Among pitchers, who do you think will be chosen ? Santana, other than his 7-7 win-loss record, which is more of a team stat, has individual stats that may warrant being chosen. Wagner, other than a stretch of 3 consecutive blown saves, has been fantastic. Maybe, he is chosen.

Because of the Mets' struggles, I would be surprised if the Mets have more than 4 players chosen, and it will be an indictment of their struggles, if the Mets only have the required minimum of one player chosen.

All-Star voting ends tomorrow, and the game is on July 15th.
