That is exactly what the Mets are doing to themselves. They are fooling themselves. These late inning collapses are becoming common place. Why does Jerry Manuel continue to use and abuse his relief corps? He has one, and only one closer on his squad...Eddie Kunz. He closed in college and while climbing up the ladder of the minor leagues. With Billy Wags on the DL, the Mets only have one closer, and for reasons unknown, or unsubstantiated, they won't give Kunz the chance to close. It is absolutely impossible for Kunz to do any worse than the Heilman, Sanchez, Smith, Schoenweis battalion.
Jerry - give the kid a chance!
