Pedro Martinez did what he had to do. He gave the Mets a chance to win. He gave up 2 runs via the home run in the first and then shut the door until the 6th inning. He would have not been scored upon in the 7th inning if it hadn't been for David Wright's flubbing of a back spinning ground ball of the bat of Brian Giles with 2 outs.
The Mets did a good job on getting on base tonight but couldn't get that clutch hit that seems to be a recurring theme lately.
Dan Murphy has 3 hits a triple and 2 singles and a rbi.
Carlos Beltran had opportunity in the first to tie the game and struck out.. He did hit the ball hard tonight but right at the padres defense.
Brian Schneider was on base 3 times with 2 hits and an intentional walk.
