Two stars tonight in the game the Mets just played. One being Mike Pelfrey and his 7 shut out innings . The other the Mets stunning defense. Tonight was a duel to the end with the Mets winning 2-1.
The Mets scored 2 runs in the first inning with a reyes hit a reyes hit on a hit and run and a single by Wright and a wild pitch and before there was 1 out the Mets had plated 2 runs.
Well at least they scored 2 in the first cause that would be the end of the Mets scoring.
The Mets defense was amazing tonight. Starting in the bottom of the first with a nice diving stop by Wright. Pelfrey got involved when he knocked down a ball and started a double play in the 6th. Carlos Beltran got involved with a throw that NAILED Adam LaRoche trying to score from second on a single up the middle . See the video here
The Web Gem of the Met game was Argenis Reyes who saved the Mets from possible disaster with him backing up Carlos Delgado in the 9th who flubbed a ground ball to his back hand that went under his glove. Argenis Reyes who was backing up the play picked up the ball and threw the ball to AAron Heilman to record the out.
Yes that was AAron Heilman that came in the 9th and recorded the save. The Mets now have won 4 straight and are 15-12 since the All-star break. They are 10 games over 500 for the first time this year.

Argenis Reyes got all the credit for the defensive play of the game, but Heilman did a great job covering first in time.
Nice post!
Was a good game to watch on the defensive side. There was 1 play by jose that he threw across his body that I have no idea how he got anything on the throw!
