Jon Niese only goes 3 but bullpen is solid and Mets win in Extra Innings

Jon Niese learned quickly that pitching in the Majors isnt easy when the first batter Ricky Weeks hit a lead off home run . He then settled down a little getting out of a jam and not giving up any runs until the 4th inning when the Brewers seemed to have his numbers by getting hit after hard hit. They tied the score at 5 .

The Mets had a 3 run home run from Carlos Beltran who also threw out a runner at the plate .

The bullpen of the Mets pitched 7 scoreless innings. The Mets used 6 relievers.

Endy Chavez brought in for late inning replacement gunned down Bill Hall trying to stretch a single . He also had the game winning rbi in the 10th when he hit a long fly to right. Daniel Murphy scored to give the Mets the lead and the eventual win 6-5 . He had led off the inning with a pitch hit single

Luis Ayala got the first 2 outs in the 10th but then gave up a double and walk but he was able to get Ricky Weeks to strike out to end the game . He is hurting though he is obviously favoring his groin as he pitches.

Good jobs by Brian Stokes and Nelson Figueroa who both pitched 2 scoreless innings.
