It seems that Omar Minaya is wary of bringing a big contract to the Mets in regards to a closer for 2009. As we mentioned earlier this week here Bobby Jenks might be on the Mets radar.
Well this option/rumour has not died out like the C C Sabathia rumor from the other day. It seems the Mets might be willing to part with some young talent to see if they can trade for Bobby Jenks . Omar sees it as a win win since Jenks doesn't have a long term contract. His 2008 contract was for $550,000 and is up for arbitration this year. The Mets might be able to get him for maybe 3-5 million which would be less then half of what it will cost for Fuentes or K-Rod.
He is only 27 years old but his strikeouts have gone down the last couple of years. The plus is he does not give up home runs . He only gave up 3 home runs last year. He has proven that he can close. It might be a pretty good option for the Mets.
