Former Mets back-up catcher, Vance Wilson, has signed a minor league deal to play with the Kansas City Royals.
Wilson last played for the Detroit Tigers in 2006. He wound up blowing out his elbow, and had to have Tommy John Surgery twice to repair the damaged joint.
Wilson, 36, might have a chance with the Royals to move up to the pro club better than he would have had with the Tigers.
Wilson was traded from the Mets to Detriot in January 2005 for Anderson Hernandez. It was believed at the time Wilson was traded because he was the Union Rep for the Mets, and the Mets felt he was a little too loud, especially after just parting ways with Al Leiter and John Franco, two other ultra pro-union players.
