Mets cant string 2 in a row. Johan loses pitchers duel

The Mets go home after losing 2 out of 3 to the Marlins this weekend. With there best pitcher striking out 13 Marlins in 7 innings the Mets still find a way to lose 2-1 .

The Mets were baffled by Marlins pitcher Josh Johnson who did not let up a hit until the 5th innings to slugger Luis Castillo on a broken bat base hit into right field.

Daniel Murphy dropped a fly ball in left that scored 2 unearned runs and cost the Mets the game. This is Johan Santana first loss since June of last year.

Beltran singled home Delgado for the Mets run in the 9th but that was all they could get.

The game was over in 2 hours in 4 minutes. Might be the shortest game the Mets play all year.

The Mets finish off the first week of the season with a 3-3 record. Not what they expected as they head home to play the first place Padres when they open Citi Field/Shea Nu tonight.
