Well now that Oliver can not get out of his own way, it looks like the Mets will be sending Oliver Perez down to triple aaa to find his mo jo back. He did not even last 3 innings in yesterdays fox game against the Phillies.
He got 8 outs and had to use 77 pitches while walking 6 and striking out 2. As Mets fan 73 has suggested it might be time for Ollie to go the Steve Trachsel route and work his issues out in the minors. The problem with Ollie is that there are too many things going on in that 2 bit head of his. He needs to find away to clean the slate and start fresh. He now can not find the strike zone.
Ollie himself has mentioned that he needs to do something because he is no help to the team.
Jerry needs to pull the trigger and get him out of there. For one start if Tim Redding is not set to come off the DL bring up Nelson Figueroa. Maybe just leave him in the rotation until he falters and give Ollie all the time he needs.
Kudos to Mets reliever Ken Takahashi who made his major league debut at 40 yrs old last night and only gave up 1 hit in 2+ innings.

The problem with Ollie is right there in the picture that accompanies this post.
Perez' landing foot is always pointing AWAY from home plate, usually at 90 degrees. I've watched other pitchers, from high school to the pros, and a good hurler will always land his lead foot POINTING TOWARDS HOMEPLATE.
I've noticed this for years about Perez and am dumbfounded as to why none of his coaches ever broke down his motion and corrected it. As long as his body's moving towards first, his arm is moving towards third and he's trying to aim at a target in front of him, he will continue to remain off-balance and wild.
After all, he's no Gibson.
Fix his right foot and you fix Perez.
