Will Saturday be the day the Mets DL Carlos Delgado?

One day there is some optimism and the next day it vanishes. While the Mets are losing to the Giants 5-1 right now there is some thought that Carlos Delgado will be heading to the DL on Saturday. The question is will there be surgery on the horizon?

If the Mets lose Delgado to surgery will they be able to survive with a platoon of Tatis, Jeremy Reed and weak hitting and defensively challenged Daniel Murphy playing first base for the next 2 months?

The Mets really have no one in triple aaa since Nick Evans is slumping bad and sent down to St Lucie and .133 hitting Mike Lamb who the Mets signed after he was released by the Brewers.

Will the Mets look to trade for someone like Nick Johnson of the Nationals?

Losing Delgado for any length of time past a normal 15 day dl will make the Mets lean towards a trade ? It might just depend on the rest of the division . Phillies are hurting with Lidge there closer being pounded as well as 45 yr old starter Jamie Moyer. The Marlins have lost 18 of 24.

Can the Mets limp through the summer without Delgado?
