Well it was a tough way to lose a ball game. Honestly hearing baseball players and managers if they ever saw something like Friday night before most of them said no. The few that said yes said they saw a game lost on a pop up in a high school contest. Well its in the past now.
The Mets won saturday 6-2 with some excellent pitching by Fernando Nieve for 6 and 2/3 innings and a couple of homers by Onir Santos and Gary Sheffield. The Mets thumped Yankee Starter Andy Pettite for 5 runs and 12 hits over 5 innings.
What I found interesting was the fact that I was listening to part of the game in the car and Wayne Heagan described every play that was hit to Luis Castillo as a play that he did everything he could to make a play or say "well Castillo just missed the bullet of a grounder but he gave every effort." Hey Wayne we know Castillo gave every effort on Friday night for that pop up. Every effort that Luis was accustomed to giving which honestly shows plenty of lapses. He is no O-Dog!
Kudos goes to Sean Green who pitched for 1 and 1/3 innings and gave up 1 hit . He has really turned his season around.
K Rod came in the 9th even though it was not a save situation and closed the game with no miscues being made. Luis now can get a good sleep tonight. I see the Phillies lost 11-6 so I will do the same.
