Well the Mets waited as long as they could tonight to pull out this game against the Nationals. Even with key base running bluders by Carlos Beltran and 2 by David Wright, the Mets beat the Nationals 3-1 in 10 innings.
Good outing by Tim Redding who found the strike zone. He pitched 6 innings of 1 run ball and didn't fold under pressure. The Nationals had the bases juiced with 1 out and Redding got Ryan Zimmerman to hit into a inning ending double play.
Carlos Beltran hit the ball off the base of the wall but since he thought it was gone was thrown out at 3rd to end the first.
David Wright actually had the winning hit with 2 on and none out in the 10th . He had the ball to right center and the ball rollled almost to the wall plating Beltran and Castillo.
He still had manager to have Jerry Manuel wanting to strangle him after he tried to steal 3rd with none out in the 10th and was caught stealing. Hoenstly him and Beltran were trying way too hard. They both could have stayed at second and waited for there teammates to hit them in
The bullpen for the Mets pitched 4 innings and gave up 1 hit. Sean Green had another good innings and K rod notched his 15th save.
