The Mets today made the correct decision in disabling David Wright, who sustained a concussion when he was drilled in the head with a Matt Cain 93 MPH fastball yesterday.
Andy Green was recalled to replace Wright on the roster. Green, 32, was batting .270 in 35 games for the AAA Buffalo Bisons.
I will be fair; I congratulate the Mets for doing the Wright thing. Too many times over the last few years, they have made too many poor decisions regarding their players and their injury status. If they left it to Wright, like they have to many players in the past, he would have suited up today.
The Mets taking the authoritative approach properly sidelined Wright. Now no one from the Mets Core remains; Reyes, Beltran, Delgado and Wright have not only been disabled this year, but are all currently on the DL. 2010 is closer than we think.
