In a small blip in Mike Silva’s column which you can read here it looks like Dwight Gooden has landed a gig. He will be senior vice president for the Newark Bears. Which means he will collect a paycheck and show his face on occasion. He maybe can do some motivation seminars on how to ruin your career with drugs. Or maybe 1 called million dollar arm and 2 cent head.
The Bears part of the independent league are fighting for a playoff spot with the LI ducks.
There manager is Tim Raines and former Met Mike Torrez is the pitching coach. Gooden in the past has mentioned that when he first came the Mets it was Mr Torrez that took him under his wing and helped him get used to being a big leaguer.
Best of luck to Doc. It has been great seeing him around the Mets new home this summer.
