Bobby V. To Manage Big C?

According to today’s The Plain Dealer, the Cleveland Indians are considering one Bobby Valentine to manage the Tribe.

According to the article, Valentine is among the finalists for the vacant managerial position. He, along with former Mets 3B coach and Nationals manager, Manny Acta, and Travis Fryman, Class A Mahoning Valley manager for the last two years, are considered to be the top candidates for the open position.

No word to the rumor that Don Mattingly is also being considered. With the Dodgers (barely) alive in the play-offs, the Indians might not be able to approach Mattingly, having to wait until the Dodgers season ends.

The Indians want to be able to announce their new manager by the conclusion of the World Series.

Valentine Managed the Texas Rangers from 1985 – 1992, the Mets from 1996 – 2002, and the Chiba Lotte Marines (Japan) 1995, 2004 – 2009. The Marines did not ask Valentine back due to a cost cutting by the team. Valentine had earned $4M for the Marines this past season.
