Former Mets Join Forces To Fight Kidney Disease

Former Mets closer John Franco , former Mets back-up catcher Ed Hearn , and former Mets GM Jim Duquette – will be at the Caesar’s Club at Citi Field (More commonly known around here as Gil Hodges Memorial Park) tonight to try and raise funds and awareness for dangerous kidney diseases: Focal Segmental Glomerulosclerosis (FSGS) and Nephrotic Syndrome (NS).

The NephCure Foundation will be having its annual Countdown To A Cure, and this cause affects both Hearn and Duquette rather closely. Ed Hearn (1986) has suffered from multiple health issues, and has received three kidney transplants, and is an Ambassador for the NephCure Foundation. Duquette, who serves on NephCure’s board of directors, has a daughter, Lindsay, who suffers from kidney disease.
