The Mets have announced that they added third baseman Shawn Bowman to their 40 man roster. Bowman, 24, played for Binghamton (AA) last year, where he hit 24 doubles, three triples, nine home runs and 44 RBI in 91 games.

Bowman was the Mets 12th selection in the June 2002 draft.

Hailing from New Westminster, BC, Canada, Bowman helped Canada earn the Bronze medal at the World Cup last September. During the tournament he compiled a .275 batting average with three home runs and 15 RBI.

With the addition on Bowman, the Mets 40 man roster is at 36.
