With pitchers and catchers reporting to florida in about 5 weeks the Mets still need some holes filled. Everyone thinks that the Mets will still sign Molina. Of course who know who will blink first. I don't think the Mets want to go to 2 years with Molina. I think its fine. Thole is a nice catcher but it would be nice if the kid could hit for some power so even if the Mets sign Molina for 2 they could always trade him off.
The Mets are still looking at free agent pitchers but I hope they spend some $$ on a decent bench. They still need a 5th outfielder and someone who can come off the bench and hit a home run. You know those things the Mets hit the fewest of last year. Reed Johnson is still available.
They didn't resign Tatis for 2010 but he was the only guy who was able to provide a thump on the bench and play multiple positions. If Melvin Mora was available without having to give up a pick he might be an option unless he is expecting big bucks. Love to see the Mets take a flier on Xavier Nady even if he wont be available out of the box come opening day. The Mets are used to that.
