Seems like Met fans might actually enjoy having Jason Bay on there team for the next 4 years. It also seems that his teammates feel the say way about the Mets new left fielder.
Bay who is a monster at the plate still thinks he can improve. He realizes his strikeouts are part of his game but in a good article over at the NY Post Bay thinks he can raise his average. He thinks he can be a .280 hitter. Last season he had a .384 on-base percentage and scored 103 runs.
According to the NY Post “Bay spoke with hitting coach Howard Johnson throughout the winter and conveyed the message he still sees room for improvement in his stroke. “ Ho-Jo went on to say "I didn't realize how quick his hands really are and how strong he really is,".
Bay said he would not sacrifice average for power. Which is a good thing because with Beltran out and not sure about what to expect with Wright, Bay might be our only big homerun threat going into the season.
