John Maine makes his spring debut as Mets pummel Marlins

The Mets pummled the Marlins this afternoon 11-2. Chris Carter, who the Mets recieved as compensation for Billy Wagner, thumped a couple of homers.

John Maine was on a strict pitch count today.
Maine allowed two hits, struck out four and walked one in 39 pitches .

Per Adam Rubin Maine had this to say "I had more balls than I probably should have because I wasn't getting my slider across, but it's there. It's just a matter of getting it up a little bit. I had pretty good life on my fastball, I thought. That's all I was looking for right now."

Mets prospect Jenrry Mejia had another good outing . He pitched 3 innings and was the reverse Ollie . 27 of his 33 pitches were strikes.

Johan gets the start tomorrow against the Astros.
