Mets John Maine might be heading elsewhere

The Mets might be looking to trade or designate for assignment pitcher John Maine. He pitched Friday night in Buffalo and needed over 80 pitches to get through 4 plus innings in his start with his Fastball hovering in the 88-89 mph range.

He is scheduled to pitch 1 more game on his rehab assignment this Wednesday. Manager Jerry says he doesn't see him in the bullpen and the Mets are keeping Takahashi in the starting rotation after he was able to beat the Yankees Friday night.

Maine is owed less then 2M for the remainder of the season. Like to see the Mets retain him only for depth in case of injury but I know Manager Jerry was not a happy camper on Maine's last 5 pitch start when he was pulled in the first inning against the Nationals which led to his DL stint. Maine cant be sent directly to the minors so he could be gone by next weekend.
