Beltran’s first opponent is Tim Lincecum

As the Mets start playing after the All Star break tonight, Carlos Beltran will not have a easy time of it in his first task facing the Giants Tim Lincecum

Beltran who last year didn’t play the full year due to his bone bruises hit in limited games 10 homers drove in 48 while batting .325.

Beltran in 7 at bats has 4 hits against Lincecum who has never beaten the Mets. He is 0-1 with a ERA just north of 5 in 4 starts. He gave up 2 runs over 6 innings in early May where he got a no decision.

Manager Jerry had said prior to the break that Beltran will be batting 4th in his first appearance of the year against Major League pitching. He might be a bit over matched. Since I am sure that Lincecum will not tread easy against Beltran.

Now Frenchy will have to sit a bit while Pagan is playing right field but it won’t take long to see if Beltran will need many games to get in a grove.

Per ESPN NY Bruch Bochy had this to say- "We're going to look at Carlos as we normally do," Bochy said. "He's a great player, a great hitter, and we're not going to change anything. We're not going to hopefully drop our guard. This guy is a tremendous player and he's going to help the Mets coming back.”
