Congrads to the Giants - Players are now free agents

Now that the World Series is over with the Giants winning for the first tine since 1954, 142 players offically became free agents. Teams have a 5 day window to negotiate with there players exclusively. Mets free agents are Henry Blanco,Elmer Dessens,Kelvim Escobar,Pedro Felicano and Fernando Tatis.


The non-tender deadline for players with more than three but less than six years' service time is now Dec. 2. Look for the Mets to jettison John Maine and maybe take a flier on Sean Green. Green didnt really amount to much this year after missing most of the year and wasnt too effective when he came back.  He is cheap though. 

The Mets have until Nov 15th to activate Jose Reyes club option for 2011 at 11M.  Look for professor Reyes to have that option activated ASAP.
