Winter is over! Play Ball!

Ok so its opening day but really its opening night. The Mets can put the spring behind them and play in baseball games that finally count. Start with tonight's game against Josh Johnson and the Marlins at Sun Life Stadium.

Winter without baseball is way too long and its just not so much fun reading how pessimissitic most fans are about the 2011 Mets. Sports Illustrated  predicts the Mets will win 74 games and finish last. Wow  only 74 wins? Come on thats rough.

I think the Mets are a pretty good team who jettisoned 2 players that caused more drama and pain then most. How many games would Ollie been in that he would have given up a homerun that caused a loss? Or Castillo not able to range to his left and watch a single score a run .  Not sure what you will get from Brad Emaus but I think you will get more extra base hits in 1 month from him then you'd get from Castillo all year.

The Mets are really going to sink or swim depending on 2 key offensive players do. Carlos Beltran and Jason Bay. If these 2 can stay in the lineup together for more then the 9 games they played together this year I think the Mets can win at least 80-83 games.

Reyes looks ready for a monster year and Davis will continue to not let Citi Fields walls keep his homers from getting to the stands. Wright might not be Mr Clutch but I bet a 30hr 100 rbi year is in his grasp.

Mike Pelfrey might not be a true # 1 starter but if Chris Young and Chris Capuano are healthy they are a heck of lot better then most teams # 4 and 5 starters.

The 2011 Mets might not win a division but I think they can be better then 2010 team and of course that might not be saying much . We has fans want Collins to get this team playing hard exciting baseball so when the dog days of summer are upon us we wont be waiting already for opening day 2012.

LETS GO METS!
