Former Mets Pitcher's Mother Abducted
Former Mets pitcher, Victor Zambrano 's, mother was abducted in his native Venezuela. Elizabeth Mendez Zambrano was abducted early Sunday from her son's farm, located near Maracay in central Venezuela.
Zambrano, best known for being the player the Mets acquired from Tampa Bay in the Scott Kazmir trade, didn't pitch well for the Mets. He suffered arm injuries which greatly reduced whatever effectiveness he might have had.
Zambrano is presently pitching for Magallanes in the Venezuelan League. He last appeared in the Majors in 2007, for the Orioles before being released.
24 Hours From Suicide...A Day In The Life Of A Met Fan sends our thoughts and prayers out to the Zambrano family, and hope that Victor's mother is returned safely.
