Now that the Mets’ have finished their series in Anaheim, had an off day yesterday, and left the site of the firings, mentally, do they feel like tonight is the start of the clean slate ?
The timing of an off day worked out well. Hopefully, they relaxed and watched the Braves lose yesterday, putting the Mets into third place, at 35-36, five and a half games behind Philadelphia, for the NL East lead.
The Mets should expect less of a media presence in Colorado. They’re already starting the “Willie was a great guy, but, it’s time to move on,” types of quotes.
If they truly believe that, and they rested, mentally and physically, yesterday, then, let’s see how they perform tonight, Saturday and Sunday, in Denver, before returning home on Monday. Their performance could help to dictate the media reaction, when they return to Shea.
