Remember when...

scribed by newyorkmetsdiehardfan

Remember when all the newspapers, WFAN callers, and fans were screaming for Omar to sign Barry Zito and trade for Dontrelle Willis ?

Yesterday, Detroit sent Dontrelle Willis back to A ball, YES, A ball, in Lakeland Florida, to work out his mechanics (euphemism for "whatever's bothering him, between the ears")

That Detroit & Florida trade is looking better for Florida. Miguel Cabrera is the size of a small continent, having already been moved from 3B to 1B, and will probably be next season's DH, after the Sheffield contract expires.

It's not only the Mets with free agent signings & trades that are second-guessed, and contracts that are immovable. Considering the Oliver Perez contract expires after this season, he's a lot less heartache than those Barry Zito & Dontrelle Willis contracts.
