Sabathia, Holliday, Bedard, Griffey, Dunn ???

The trading deadline is July 31st. Mets fans know that we have a very aggressive general manager, Omar Minaya, who does everything short of looking under rocks, to try to find talent.

Yesterday, he acquired Trot Nixon.

What is he working on, now ???

The rumor mill is starting to churn, and it will get louder between now and the deadline.

Big names that are starting to be mentioned as possible players who could be traded are Indians lefty, C.C. Sabathia, Rockies OF Matt Holliday, Mariners lefty Erik Bedard, and Reds' outfielders, Ken Griffey, Jr. (who already vetoed a trade to the Mets years ago), and Adam Dunn (who can also "play" 1B - I'm being kind with the word play - have you seen him in the OF or 1B ?)

Knowing Omar, I'm sure he's calling the other 29 G.M.'s frequently. Does he have the pieces to acquire a big name ? Who is he looking at ? What is he looking for ? Can he pull off a trade to alter the chemistry and production of this team ?

Stay tuned...we'll keep you updated ?
