Reese Havens, SS, University of South Carolina, the Mets' second first-round pick, 22nd overall, and Brad Holt, righty starter, the Mets’ supplemental first-round pick, 33rd overall, were at Shea last night, after officially signing with the Mets. Both were interviewed by SNY’s Kevin Burkhardt during the game.
Havens has already been rumored to be switching to catcher or second base, but Omar Minaya said the team has no immediate plans to move Havens to a different position.
Havens was asked if he would be okay moving to a different position, and he said as long as he could be a starting player, he doesn’t care what position he plays. Good team attitude, Reese. Both players, and Ike Davis, when he signs, will play for Brooklyn, one of the Mets A ball teams. Good move ! Let the New Yorkers see the Mets’ top 3 draft picks as soon as possible.
