In a move to shake things up a bit, Jerry Manuel has implemented a new warm-up regimen. According to Jon Blau at mlb.com, all players, position players and pitchers will practice together. They will take batting practice and the pitchers will practice drills of covering 1B.
All this is done to build the 'Team" foundation.
Today all players reported for drills at 4 PM sharp. Jerry Manuel is proving to be a living dichotomy: he is loosey-goosey with players personally, but is the consummate task master when dealing with strategy and fundamentals.
He is quickly trying to change the attitude the Mets have had, to quote Joe Benigno of WFAN, to just throw their gloves out there, and expect to win.
Sometimes you have to hit rock bottom before being able to to climb out. Let's hope the Mets have already hit rock-bottom, and after tonight's 8-2 victory are on their way back up.
Let's Go Mets!
