Pedro Frustrated, But Not Quitting...

Pedro Martinez got torched for four runs in the first inning of last night's 8-7 loss to the Cardinals. Martinez, mired in the worst slump of his Hall Of Fame caliber career, is frustrated, but not to the point of quitting. In today's NY Post, Bart Hubbuch quotes Pedro as saying, "If I was to quit right now, I would be a coward. You have a lot more chances of seeing me [quit] when everything is going smooth than right now. I'm going to try to find a way and face whatever adversity is out there."

Pedro continued by saying, "Now I know how it feels to be on the other side of the coin, so I'm just going to continue to battle and do what I can to help this team win a ballgame," he said. "If I fall short, well, I'm going to go home proudly. I'm not going to quit."

Simply put, this Mets team needs the "Old Pedro" more than ever. This year Pedro has been the epitome of the Mets - frustratingly inconsistent.
