Pedro Martinez, who has said that he will be ready to pitch, once his turn comes up, after the All-Star break, isn’t surprised by the surge of the NY Mets, as mentioned in an article at Newsday.
He thinks, part of the reason, for the Mets surge, is the fact that, now, they aren’t going back and forth, to the West coast, anymore. The players now, are sleeping better, in their own beds, and eating better, he goes on to mention.
Hmm... I think, a lot has to with the fact, that the team feels better about itself. It’s not worrying about the daily drama they had, before Gump was fired.
The Mets have made trips to the west coast before, and done fine. Do the long road trips play into this streak ?
