Yesterday the dissolution of the Mike and the Mad Dog radio show was announced. It was decided that now would be the time for Russo to leave, being that he was not committed to signing a five-year contract.
Both Russo and Francessa say that they have been getting along better of late; they had a big rift from April to May this year, and that Russo decided it was time to move on.
As reported Here on June 22, 2008, there have been rumblings of their break-up for months despite the denials from the popular radio hosts.
As heard on the WFAN this morning, some think Russo might go to satellite radio. There is no confirmation of that. According to sources, Russo does not yet have a job.
Russo has been on vacation this week, and was unable to have a “farewell” show.
Francessa will work solo in his usual time slot from 1:00 PM – 6:30 PM M-F.
The interesting thing is, who will lead the “Crack Committee” now that their founder and president has departed? For those who aren’t aware, Russo as an anti-Yankee rallying cry, headed the Crack Committee. Every year he would go on rants and tirades to bring the Yankees down. Being anti-Yankee myself, it was fun to listen to. He would take credit for the Yankees early play-off exits the last few years due to his "Crack Committee."
Although I rarely agreed with either host, I must admit that I do listen daily. I will be glad to no longer hear his ridiculous analysis of NY baseball, or other sports, and his prejudice against our Mets. Good luck Chris, and remember, “you can never go home…”

I will miss Mad Dog berating the Yankees. I think the 2 of them are better together then just Mike alone. Listening to them is been a part of the day every weekday for years. It will be strange not hearing Chris talking about his beloved tennis. NOT!!!!!
