Heilman used for 2 innings = Mets loss.

Well i think at this point people can start the fun of second guessing a manager. Jerry Manuel up until this point as been spot on with his moves in regards to the bullpen. Why ? because most of the time he gets good results.

Last night thought using Aaron Heilman for a second inning of work was a mistake. Not just because he gave up a grand slam to pinch hitter Mark Loretta. AAron Heilman has been abused lately. He pitched 3 innings in the extra inning game against the cardinals. The other night against the marlins he was used for 2 innings. You going to tell me he has no faith in the other guys in his bullpen besides Joe Smith to get 3 outs? Just a bad move and the minute he came out for the 2nd inning you could here a collective groan among Met fans across Long Island.

Of course the Mets wasted there chances when they had bases loaded with nobody out and couldn't even get 1 run in. Chavey struck out. Wright forced Schndeider at the plate. Carlos Delgado, who had 2 hits already, flew out to left field.

Pedro Martinez gave up 3 solo home runs in 5 innings of work. He had a very good curveball. His location seemed to be off but I'm sure that has to do with the fact he hasn't pitched in 3 weeks. I would say for Pedro it was a good start. Just an ugly finish for the Mets
