Mets score early for Pedro Win 7-4 Streak at 5

Before the end of the first inning last night the Mets had build a 3 run lead for Pedro Martinez who pitch 7 solid innings in the Mets 7-4 win.

Pedro Martinez pitching against the Pirates for the 2nd time in a row held the Pirates to 1 run in 7 innings. He was pretty solid through 6th innings pitching effortlessly against a Pirates team that really lacks much punch . He did tire in the 7th but held on to allow only 1 run . Hre struck out 4 and walked 1.

Jose Reyes started the game off with his 2nd game leading off home run of the season. See that home run here

He followed it up with a triple that scored Pedro Martinez in the 2 innings. It was Jose Reyes 51st multi hit game that he leads the league. He is hitting .346 on this current road trip.

Note to Gary and Keith. Please no talk about Reyes and possible MVP honors. Let's him just keep hitting the way he does without the thought in his head. We don't need these ideas leading to media questions that lead to Jose Reyes pressing. Just let him do his thing.

Ramon Castro hit a 2 run shot in 6th.

Eddie Kunz who hadn't pitched in 6 days gave up 3 runs in a 1/3 if inning. Mr Kunz looked nervous and maybe if the Mets give him more work even if its in the middle of a game he won't look so star crossed. Or let him pitch in the 9th of a tight game and let's see what he his made off.
I mean everyone in that bullpen has failed lately.

Joe Smith to 1batter and gave up a hit. He looks like he might have hit a wall.

The Mets lead widened with the Phillies loss in San Diego.
