Another Bermuda Night For Baseball In Flushing

The Bermuda Department of Tourism is looking to bring the tepid climate of Bermuda to New York later this month.

In conjunction with the New York Mets, a second 'Bermuda Night' of the 2008 baseball season will take place at Shea Stadium on September 22, as the team competes against Chicago Cubs.
Some of the festivities planned for the evening are: Bermuda Idol winner Larrita Adderley will sing the US National Anthem and the Warwick Gombey Troupe will help to warm up the pre-game crowd.

A Government spokesman for Bermuda said: "Bermuda Night presents Tourism officials with the opportunity to showcase Bermuda as a visitor destination to fans in the stadium and watching on television." With both the Mets and Cubs looking to clinch play-off spots, the game is expected to draw 50,000-plus fans, with hundreds of thousands more watching from home on TV.

"More visitors come to Bermuda from the New York area than anyplace else in the world."
The ceremonial first pitch is to be hurled towards homeplate by Premier Ewart Brown. Toursim staff will be handing out free giveaways to fans at Shea.

The Mets held the first 'Bermuda Night' on May 12, when the Mets played the Washington Nationals. That night, Dr. Brown also threw out the first pitch and fans received 'Feel The Love' giveaways.
