The Mets needed a win last night after they were shut down by Jamie Moyer earlier in the day and lost 6-2.
Well Johan had a shaky first inning where he gave up 1 run but settled down after that . He gave up a second run to Ryan Howard when he hit a home run to left field . By that time though the Mets had took a lead since they scored 3 runs in the first and 1 in the 3rd when Carlos Delgado hit a solo shot off the base of the scoreboard. He then launched one in the fifth off of Cole Hamels that disappeared into the nite past the right field bullpen.
The Mets scored another run in the 8th on a triple by Damion Easley and a sac fly by Brian Schneider that made the score 6-2. Luis Ayala gave up 1 run in the 9th and the Mets now can breathe easier as they go into Tuesday game with Washington with a 2 game lead in the east.
The Mets won the season series against the Phillies 11-7.
David Wright looks beat up at the plate. He had a chance to blow the game open when he came to the plate with the bases loaded and struck out when Cole Hamel just blew 2 strikes by him.
