John Maine threw 35 pitches yesterday but it was more like throwing in the outfield. At best he might be able to pitch an inning or 2 in relief in the remaining games.
There is no guarantee if the Mets make the playoffs he would be on the roster. GM Omar Minaya said he doesnt think John will be the closer for the Mets in 09
Good cause if he is healthy he is pretty good starting pitcher. Just look at his numbers in 07
