Well it wasnt Jerry Grote or Ron Darling. It was Mets employees who have been with the organization 25 yrs that helped Mr Met take the Met countdown on the outfield wall down .
Included in the group was Jay Horowitz VP of Media relations and Charlie Samuels,Clubhouse manager.

I have never heard anything so lame. Who is going to 14? Those employees with two weeks (14 days) employment for Sterling Ent./Mets?
The Mets have done a terrible job promoting and celebrating it's history, and by this act, have really done a disservice to Jerry Grote...From game 50 on down, they should have had their most recognized players to wear the respective Numbers pull down the sign.
Gee, who will pull down #1? Jeff or Fred Wilpon?
Complete garbage!
This is a COMPLETE JOKE! How long ago did management decide on this promotion/event for each home game? My guess is a promo like this is done a year in advance or more. With that said, couldn’t they come up with a better roster of personnel to pull down the numbers, especially the significant ones? There are 81 home games. I agree with MetsFan73, from 50 on down they could have done a MUCH BETTER JOB. If people from the office got to pull down #15, and not Jerry Grote, then Jobu, MetsFan73, and LongIslandMetFan should be allowed to pull a number down somewhere in the top 10. We should represent the common Met fan
i agree with you jobu...I say #8 since i doubt they will bring carter back..
