World Championships Don't Necessarily Bring Class

That team down the Jersey TPKE, in the same state that Pittsburgh resides in, had a celebration yesterday...Major League Baseball World Series Championship.

I will not congratulate this team. In fact, I despise them. I have nothing but contempt for Utley, Howard, Ruiz, the Cy Young of domestic violence, and the two I loathe the most... Rollins and Victorino.

People speak about New Yorkers as if we are second class citizens. But, when the Yankees had their run in the mid-to-late 1990's, when the Mets won in '86, and more historic, when the Rangers captured the cup in 1994 after a 54 year draught, there were no incidences of violence, vandalism, or anything of the sort.

In Philadelphia, cars were over-turned, burned, and there was destruction. Makes no sense.

Now the ball club...you won. Why must you talk trash after the fact? Why are they so obsessed with Jose Reyes and the Mets? Personally speaking, are we in your head that bad? I'm glad you hate us. The feeling is mutual. Everyone hated us in 1986, and look how that turned out.

But, when the Mets won in '86, you never heard any trash talking about the Astros, Red Sox, Phillies...no one. The Mets did their talking on the field. They handled the Championship well.

The Phillies on the other hand, have to continually make comments about the Mets. How the Mets celebrate, etc. So what? Reyes doesn't show anyone up on the field. His dances and handshakes are done in the Mets dugout, not on second base.

I can remember quite a few games with Rollins and Victorino celebrating after a big hit or play. There is nothing wrong with that. The one problem is, don't be a bunch of hypocrites. Win with class, not as a bunch of jackasses.

Now that you've won, your job will be to see how well you handle it when the entire league is gunning for you...that's what the Mets have had to deal with the last three seasons. They didn't accomplish their goal, in fact they failed miserably. But, off the field, other than Carlos Beltran stating the Mets would be the team to beat, the Mets said very little, but are hated. It must be that NY thing, and you know what? I wouldn't have it any other way.

At least here in NY, our fans and our teams win with class. That is more than your second rate fans will ever be able to fathom.

Enjoy it now, because we are going after you in '09.

No class for the Phillies. No class for Rollins to even mention the Mets at that rally. I doubt the Mets would waste there breath mentioning them. Guess we are still in Rollins head. GOOD!
