Need your fill of baseball during this “slow” point of the Hot Stove Season? Well, the MLB Network can fill that void for you.
On Monday, January 19, 2009 – 10:00 PM – MLB Network will replay game 5 of the 1969 World Series, when the Mets became World Champions.
The 1969 Mets team were the underdogs to the “unbeatable” Baltimore Orioles, who won 109 games. Future Hall Of Famers on this Oriole team were: Frank Robinson, Brooks Robinson, and Jim Palmer.
In Game 5, Jerry Koosman fell behind 3-0 after giving up homers to Frank Robinson and the opposing pitcher, Dave McNally. Kooz hung tough, and the Mets re-paid him with two runs in the sixth, on Donn Clendenon’s two run blast.
In the seventh, second baseman Al Weis tied the score with a home run of his own. Weis batted only .215 during the season, but hit a robust .455 in the World Series. Weis only hit one HR all year.
For the answer to the conclusion of the game, you are just going to have to watch the game on Monday.

Nice post. I look forward to watching that and tonights show on the 1986 Season. Loving the MLB network right now.
Me too. I don't usually get to watch HOT STOVE, but I DVR it every night. Last night was great with Rickey Henderson. He was hysterical, and a lot brighter (when speaking about his base stealing technique)than I thought he was. Even Bobby V was good, and I don't particularly care for him...
