Santana To Miss WBC

Adam Rubin - NY Daily News is reporting that Met ace Johan Santana will remove himself from the WBC at the request of the Mets. Although Santana “feels great,” he hasn't yet pitched from a mound since undergoing arthroscopic surgery to repair a torn meniscus cartilage from his left knee on October 1st. This isn't an unexpected decision; we reported here that the Mets were likely to ask Johan to miss the WBC so as not to risk an injury, which could adversely affect the Mets in 2009.

In 2008 Santana led the NL in ERA (2.53) and innings pitched (234.1).
