2009 Mets Opening day roster Projections.

Over at the Daily News Adam Rubin gives us his 2009 NY Mets opening day roster that will show up in Cincinatti on April 6th.

Below are the bullpen and bench projections. In looking at the bullpen only 2 relievers were part of the ’08 bullpen so the remake of the bullpen is pretty dramatic. With the releasing of Duaner Sanchez it opens the door for Bobby Parnell to be apart of that new revamped bullpen. The 2 holdovers are Feliciano and Stokes who was pretty valuable in the early fall for the Mets.

With Livan given a minor league deal he might start in the minors which would give Nick Evans the nod to make the team as a righty off the bench.
The extra outfield position goes to Jeremy Reed who has been pretty valuable in his play especially centerfield where the Mets need a decent backup since they lost Endy Chavez in the J J Putz trade.

Even though Marlon Anderson is off to a solid start this spring and has come in to camp lighter I would like to think that if he fades on the last 3 weeks the Mets might dump him even with a guaranteed contract.

Ramon Castro, c Alex Cora, if Fernando Tatis, if/of Marlon Anderson, of Jeremy Reed, of Nick Evans, 1b/of

Bullpen:Francisco Rodriguez, rhp J.J. Putz, rhp Sean Green, rhp Pedro Feliciano, lhp Brian Stokes, rhp Bobby Parnell, rhp Tim Redding, rhp
