Freddy Garcia even though he is a veteran had to make the long trip 2+ hour trip over to Lakeland this morning trying to salvage his chances of making the Mets roster. There was some improvement today but not with his mph which toppped out in the mid 80's . He gave a 2 runs on 2 hits in 2 and 1/3 innings of work. He faced 10 batters and gave up 1 home run and struck out 1 and walked 1.
If that is enough to keep him in the running for the 5th spot I'm sure we will see in the next day or 2.
Bobby Parnell only helped his chances of making the team. In relief of Garcia he pitched 2 and 2/3 innings and gave up no runs and no hits while striking out 2 and walking 1.
The Mets lead the Tigers 6-3 in the 6 inning.
